Why I Created This Course:
Supporting Mobile Families Like Yours
The idea for this course was born from a blend of personal experience and professional passion. Over the past 15 years, I’ve lived the mobile life—first as a partner accompanying my spouse, and later as a parent raising two incredible Third Culture Kids (TCKs). From packing up our lives in one country to starting over in another, I’ve walked the path of relocation, transition, and repatriation. I’ve experienced the highs of adventure and cultural discovery and the challenges of goodbyes, cultural adjustments, and emotional resilience.
As a psychologist and researcher, I’ve always been fascinated by how mobility shapes families—especially children. For my Master’s thesis, I delved into the mental well-being of mobile families, and my Ph.D. research continues to explore how transitions impact family dynamics and child development. My academic work has deepened my understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities mobile families face, but it’s my lived experience that gives me the empathy and drive to help.
I created this course because I know how overwhelming it can feel to navigate these transitions. As parents, we want to provide stability and support for our children, but the mobile lifestyle often challenges our own sense of stability. I wanted to offer a resource that combines practical tools with evidence-based insights—something that parents can rely on to feel more confident and prepared.
My goal is simple: to empower parents of TCKs. Whether you're embarking on a new adventure or preparing to return "home," this course is here to guide you. It’s my way of sharing what I’ve learned as both a researcher and a fellow traveler on this journey.
Supporting mobile families is more than a professional focus for me; it’s personal. I understand the complexities of raising children across cultures because I’ve lived them. And I truly believe that with the right knowledge and tools, you can turn these transitions into opportunities for growth, resilience, and connection for your family.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey. I’m here to support you every step of the way.
Yours Truly,
Katja
