Welcome
I am Katja, deeply passionate about psychology, mental health, and particularly the well-being of mobile families and their children. My academic journey reflects this passion: my Master's Thesis focused on the mental health of mobile families, and my Ph.D. research at Basel University centers on the link between transition stress and family/child well-being.
Beyond my research, I’m the author of Goodbye Again, a children’s book that helps Third Culture Kids navigate the challenges of saying goodbye and coping with grief—something I hold dear to my heart.
I’ve lived the expatriate lifestyle for over 15 years, first as an accompanying partner and spouse and now as a mother of two wonderful Third Culture Kids. Born in Germany, with my husband from Switzerland, our children were born in the U.S. and Switzerland. We've lived in various countries, including the U.S., Switzerland, Kyrgyzstan, and North Macedonia.
My personal and academic experiences have given me a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities of raising TCKs, and I am excited to share insights, strategies, and support with you through this course.
Feel free to reach out if you’d like to learn more about my research or my work. I would love to hear from you and learn about your personal journey!
Yours Truly,
Katja
